Gardening expert, TV/radio host, author & columnist Melinda Myers has over 30 years of horticulture experience and has
written over 20 gardening books, including Can’t Miss Small Space Gardening, the Midwest Gardener's Handbook (2014), The Birds & Blooms’ Ultimate Gardening Guide and Jackson and Perkins’ Beautiful Roses Made Easy: Midwestern Edition. She hosts the nationally syndicated Melinda’s Garden Moment segments which air on over 135 TV and radio stations throughout the U.S. as well as The Great Courses How to Grow Anything DVD Series (2013). She is a columnist and contributing editor for Birds & Blooms magazine and writes the twice monthly “Gardeners’ Questions” newspaper column. Melinda also has a regular column in the nationally distributed Gardening How-To magazine as well as Wisconsin Gardening magazine. Melinda continues to appear regularly as a guest expert on various national and local television and radio shows.
Melinda has a master’s degree in horticulture, is a certified arborist, was a horticulture instructor with tenure and is
currently on the board of directors for the International Society of Arboriculture.
Melinda is a dynamic presenter who travels the country each year, appearing at many of the major flower & garden shows
and home & garden events. She enjoys the speaking tour as it allows her to share her knowledge and love of gardening
with fellow gardeners. Some of her highlighted speaking engagements include The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, The St. Louis Home Show, Southern Spring Home & Garden Show, The Macy’s Flower Show, The Northwest Flower Show in Seattle, The Philadelphia Flower Show, The San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, The New Jersey Flower Show, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, the Cincinnati Flower Show, state and regional master gardeners events, women's expos and much more.
Melinda also hosted “The Plant Doctor” radio program for over 20 years as well as seven seasons of “Great Lakes Gardener”
on PBS. She also hosted "Yardworks," a nationally syndicated yard care and garden show where she interviewed many
celebrities right in their own gardens. Additionally, she has been a contributing editor and columnist for Backyard Living
magazine and has written articles for Better Homes and Gardens and Fine Gardening.
For her work, community service and media presence, Melinda has received recognition and numerous awards, including
the national American Horticultural Society’s B.Y. Morrison Communication Award, Garden Globe Award for radio talent and the Quill and Trowel Award for her television work, both from the Garden Writers Association. She was also awarded the Garden Communicator’s Award from the American Nursery and Landscape Association, the Gold Leaf Award for Arbor Day from the International Society of Arboriculture, and the Perennial Plant Association Garden Media Award.
