Charles has been sought after for training in landscape design restoration and care by top landscape design firms and horticulturalists across the country and in Europe, and he has designed and cared for some of the finest properties in North American including Stratford Hall in Stratford, VA, and the former Astor Estate in New York. Charles builds on over two decades of experience working on over 600 landscapes. Charles received his fine arts education from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and his Landscape Architecture training from Syracuse University’s school of Environmental Science and Forestry.
Early in his artistic career, Charles worked as an illustrator for publications from the New York Times to the Los Angeles Times. Having received world class training in the traditional art of hand pruning and plant care at the Humes Japanese Garden on Long Island, NY, certified arborist Charles King Sadler is an expert in the planting and care of ornamental trees and shrubs. Educating fellow professionals and renovating maturing landscapes is a key component of Charles’ body of work. Whether designing from the ground up or restoring from the canopy down, Charles develops gorgeous, sustainable, and ecologically mindful designs employing natives and classic choices for all scales of landscapes.
