Hugh and Katie in their organic apricot orchard

We're Hugh and Katie Finlay. We've been growing organic fruit for more than 20 years, and created the Grow Great Fruit system to empower small-scale fruit growers to achieve success.

Our mission is simple - we believe that producing and eating food grown with organic and regenerative methods is good for people, communities and the planet!

Our farm is also home to the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op, where experienced and emerging farmers come together to increase productivity and profitability, and feed our local community.

We've been raising our 5 kids and growing organic fruit for a living for the last 20 yearsso we had to get good at it! We used our experience of learning to grow fruit under all conditions (including drought, flood, fire, and multiple pest and disease attacks) to develop the Grow Great Fruit system.

It builds skills and confidence to manage pruning, organic pest control and how to build healthy soil. But our system also has something else very specialthe keys to growing as much fruit as you want (whether you just have a couple trees or you're setting up a whole organic farm) as quickly as possible.

Our system shows you how to build genuine food security and a permanent system that's designed for success now, and into the future.

All aspects of small-scale organic deciduous fruit production:

  • Building healthy soil
  • Worm farms and compost tea
  • A year in the life of your fruit tree
  • Grafting and growing your own fruit trees - for free
  • Pruning made simple
  • Organic pest and disease control
  • How to improve your health, wealth and happiness (and save the planet) with small-scale food production

Hugh and Katie have established the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op on their farm. The co-op is a collaboration of diverse organic farmers, and is both a succession plan to allow Hugh and Katie to step back from active farming and focus on their coaching business, and a growth plan for a group of emerging, landless farmers. The Co-op includes a mixed orchard, a micro-dairy, market garden, and fruit tree nursery.

Katie and Hugh are also available to talk about the following topics:

  • A new collaborative model for farm succession planning
  • The important place that small-scale, regenerative farming can play in the future of food
  • Supporting young farmers to get established

Our home farm is in Harcourt, central Victoria, Australia. We're planning to visit the USA in 2019, probably around June/July, and are available for speaking engagements and workshops during that time, particularly on the west coast and the mid-west.
