New Nature Design Style—What Is It and How to Achieve It

Learn about a new way to design that helps the food web by the choices of plants and the style in which they are planted to manage a landscape instead of maintain it.

Going from Forgettable to Memorable

Many homes have great potential but they either have overgrown or sheered plants around their foundation, or they never invested in creating a beautiful outdoor living area for them to relax and enjoy.  Learn how to create memorable spaces with the elements of design, and some plants.

Helping the Food Web with Plants in Your Garden

Did you know that you could stabilize and expand the food webs so biodiversity of ever so important insects can be saved?  From the perspective of wildlife, a more diverse herbaceous layer makes all the difference.

Structure in the Garden

A very important element in the garden is structure.  This comes in many forms to create and define a space.  It can be paving, for example, or it could be particular plants used in the garden or landscape.  See and hear about examples and the impact they have on the space.

Small Space Landscape Inspiration

More people today than ever are working with small space gardens.  Lovely things can happen in small space gardens because one has the ability to impact the entire space rather than having large areas of grass for example.

Wow!  Is That Really the Same Space?

See and learn from examples of before and after landscapes from international award winning projects.  Why these landscapes were chosen and Joanne’s thought process going into the design to make it be beautiful using elements of design and the right plant for the right place.

My Top 30 Plants for Zone 6

Having designed and placed millions of plants in her 35-year career of the owner and lead designer of Joanne Kostecky Garden Design, Inc., an international award winning company, she has chosen her favorite 30 plants.  When one reads descriptions of plants, they all sound wonderful and as one works with many of them, some are not so wonderful and others are fabulous.  Be inspired by some great plants!

DIY Landscapes for your Home

Some people love to garden and they would much rather save money on labor to have more to buy plants, hardscape, accessories, etc.  This lecture is some basic but very important information to help you be able to DIY and have it look like it was professionally done.

Design Secrets for Outstanding Landscapes

This program is about how to use the elements of design with many examples of how they are used in different ways and different circumstances to achieve beauty.  By pointing out the various elements used in a design, one can learn how to use them in their own property.

No Fuss Plants for a Simplified Lifestyle

More and more, people are looking for beautiful gardens that require a minimum amount of effort to maintain them.  From her many years of experience creating and installing gardens, Joanne is sharing the plants she feels achieve this the best.

Lessons from Great Public Gardens Around the World

From the perspective of a landscape designer’s eye, Joanne will share some beautiful public gardens in the USA and in foreign countries that have inspired her and hopefully you, the viewer, too.

Gardens That Inspire

Outdoor Structures that Enhance the Garden

Adding something built into a garden or landscape often gives it that wonderful feature that is needed to go from nice to memorable.  See a wide variety of examples of the built structure or feature.

Joanne was our featured speaker in October. She was positively inspiring with her knowledge and her new perspective of garden design. I would highly recommend Joanne to speak at any garden event. The membership was thrilled with her presentation and knowledge of this new garden design. I, myself, have purchased one of her recommended books "Planting New Perspective", author Piet Oudolf and Noel Kingsbury. A winner to be sure!!!
